Natural ways to manage pain using CBD oil

Whether caused by inflammation or cramps, muscle, head, or nerve pain; discomfort can have many causes and can be treated in just as many ways.

If you are one of those people who only resort to synthetic pain relievers in an extreme emergency and prefer natural substances, CBD oil could be the right choice.

The reason: Not only can CBD oil help with sleep disorders, skin diseases, and inner restlessness but it can also help to relieve pain.

Studies have shown that Cannabidiol(CBD) has anti-inflammatory, neuro-protective, and antispasmodic effects.

In the following article, we will discuss how CBD oil can be used to help alleviate and reduce the effects of pain from a variety of ailments.

What is CBD oil and how can it help relieve pain

The two types of cannabis plants-hemp or marijuana, contain different amounts of chemical compounds.

Most of the CBD oil comes from industrial hemp as it has naturally higher levels of CBD and less than .3% of THC.

The producers of CBD oil use a variety of methods to extract the compound. The extract is then added to a carrier oil and referred to as CBD oil. Common carrier oils include MCT Coconut Oil and Olive Oil.

In natural medicine, cannabis has been used for thousands of years to treat anxiety, inner restlessness, skin diseases, and other inflammatory conditions. The phytocannabinoid cannabidiol (CBD) is of great importance as it is neither addictive nor intoxicating.

CBD oil can be easily used at any time of the day without any undesirable side effects. CBD has proven to be particularly effective against pain because it has anti-inflammatory and antispasmodic effects.

At the same time, it has a strong antioxidant effect and traps the harmful free radicals that arise in the course of inflammation.

Similar to synthetically manufactured drugs, CBD-rich preparations suppress the formation of inflammatory tissue hormones.

But unlike chemically produced synthetic drugs, CBD does not have a negative effect on the kidneys, heart, intestines, and liver.

CBD oil has proven to be particularly effective for inflammation-related pain, whereby it can be used either alone or in combination with other preparations.

Effects of CBD on chronic pain

People who suffer from chronic diseases often also suffer from the associated pain. If you look at the testimonials circulating on the net, it seems that many patients were actually able to reduce or even discontinue their conventional painkillers while taking CBD oil.

We read about some patients who had to take high doses of morphine as a result of an operation or chronic illness. Morphine alleviates pain, but it also has some side effects, such as the risk of addiction and an increased need for sleep.

After the patients had also taken CBD oil for pain and continued taking it for months, they were able to lower the morphine dose significantly, suffered less pain and finally felt more alert, and clearer in their head.

Especially for people who already have to take countless medications, CBD oil has proven itself, because it optimally supports conventional therapy and in the best case can reduce the unpleasant side effects of conventional painkillers.

Using CBD oil for back pain

If there is a specific area of back pain, CBD infused topicals or transdermal patches can be used directly to combat the source of the discomfort. It is best to always read the product label for specific dosage instructions.

How often should you use the oil for back pain?

Start with the lowest dose and gradually increase the amount of CBD, or increase the frequency of use, until pain relief is achieved.

Once you have chosen an optimal dosage regimen, use it, and see if the effects remain constant during treatment.

In any case, please make sure to constantly observe your body and see how it reacts to the ingestion.

If there are undesirable side effects, for example, very severe tiredness, for which no other cause can be found despite medical control, you should reduce the dose again.

Please also keep in mind that CBD is not a drug, but a natural product. The intake may take a little longer and, above all, a certain regularity in order to develop its full effect.

CBD for pain relief in migraines

The effectiveness of CBD for migraines has been established so far, although studies on CBD and migraines are still limited.

The ones currently in existence deal with CBD when paired with THC, not when used alone. The results of a 2017 study suggest that CBD and THC may lead to less acute pain and less severe pain in people with migraines.

In a two-phase study, some participants took a combination of two compositions. One composition contained 9 percent CBD and almost no THC. The other was 19 percent THC. The dosages were taken orally.

In the first phase, no effect on pain was found with a dose below 100 mg. When the dose was increased to 200 mg, the acute pain decreased by 55 percent.

In the second phase, the frequency of migraine attacks in participants who received a combination of CBD and THC compounds was reduced by 40.4 percent. The daily dose was 200 mg.

In addition, participants with cluster headaches also confirmed pain relief from the combination of CBD and THC compounds, but only if they had a history of migraines in childhood.

Side effects

CBD does not pose a significant risk for most users. However, certain side effects are possible, such as:

Diarrheal disease

Changes in appetite

Weight changes

Be careful if any of your medications or supplements contain a “grapefruit warning.” Grapefruit and CBD both interfere with enzymes that are critical to drug metabolism.

Is CBD Oil Safe To Use?

According to some leading health experts and agencies, the answer is yes. It’s safe to use.

While cannabinoid medicine is still in its early stages, the risks associated with CBD are extremely small. Not a single case report of a CBD overdose has been published in the literature.

The National Institute on Drug Abuse agrees, stating that CBD appears to be a safe, non-addictive drug.
